Roundup & Glyphosate

Here on our Little Wild Homestead, our mission is to help the families in our communities become more resilient through sustainable lifestyle choices by providing educational resources, offering locally sourced products, and by shortening the gap between consumer and producer.

That’s why when ConsumerNotice.org reached out to us about sharing some resources they put together around Roundup and glyphosate, our response was “Absolutely.”

Roundup is a common weed killer which has historically been used heavily in commercial & residential gardening. It contains glyphosate - a non selective herbicide - which studies have linked exposure of to cancer.

The articles below are two comprehensive guides ConsumerNotice.org shared which contain valuable information about both the product, Roundup and the chemical, glyphosate.

Both articles reference the designation by the World Health Organization (WHO) of glyphosate as “probably carcinogenic”; this is a designation provided by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) which categorizes the level of risk associated to a given preventable cause of cancer.

For ease of reference, I am also providing a link to the IARC monographs which define this categorization in further detail.
